Chinese - Danish District Heating, Energy and  Design Forum
Beijing & Qingdao, 25 June - 01 July 2005

The official visit of Deputy Prime Minister Bendt Bendtsen to China offers a unique marketing opportunity for Danish companies in relation to both existing and potential clients and partners.

The Chinese economy is booming: despite attempts from the government to slow down growth, the economic achievements of China continue to amaze the world. The expected growth rate in 2004 is expected to be close to 9 percent, China has surpassed the USA at the worlds largest recipient of FDI, the inflation is under control and the currency remains stable.

The national capital Beijing - host city of the Olympic Games 2008 - is in the process of transforming itself into a truly modern metropolis. The building boom is imminent everywhere: the city is upgrading its metro, water supply and energy systems. In this process the municipal authorities are demanding foreign expertise to achieve the ambitious goals related to Olympic venues and related infrastructure projects.

Qingdao - a coastal city of 7,2 mio people - is hosting the Olympic sailing competition. Qingdao has the fifth largest harbour in China and it is a logistics hub for the North-east. Some of the largest Chinese companies have started in Qingdao, which also offers attractive conditions for foreign investors. 40 Fortune 500 companies have established themselves in Qingdao - among them Maersk and IKEA.

The high growth and building frenzy in Beijing and Qingdao offer opportunities for Danish companies within a broad range of sub-sectors related to building. The export promotion is targeted at building materials companies, suppliers of district heating and other energy related equipment, interior design, architecture, engineering and environmental technology.

The main event will be a "Chinese – Danish District Heating, Energy and Design Forum", organised by the Confederation of Danish Industries, Export Promotion Denmark and the Royal Danish Embassy, Beijing, in cooperation with the Danish Council of Consulting Architects and Engineers, and the Danish Board of District Heating. The business forum will be opened by Deputy Prime Minister Bendt Bendtsen in both Beijing and Qingdao. You are offered the possibility to participate in sector-oriented conferences or to organise your individual conference or business meetings. A visit programme will be organised to allow you to get introduced to relevant Chinese and Danish companies (see enclosed draft programme).

The enclosed application for participation should be returned to Export Promotion Denmark no later than May 6th, 2005.

Latest update 13 June 2005.
